Dr. Shahriar Behmanesh
Raised in Vancouver, Dr. Shahriar Behmanesh received his Bachelor of Science from UBC with a major in Biochemistry and International Relations. After some time in research, he decided to head back to UBC where he received his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry. In 2019, he joined Thompson Valley Dental in hope of making a meaningful contribution to the community of Kamloops through his versatile and patient-oriented approach to dentistry.
Dr. Behmanesh believes that compassionate care combined with modern advances in dentistry is the best approach to patient care. He spends numerous hours updating his skill set and is happy to offer numerous modalities of treatment including implant therapy, IV sedation and Botox among others to provide the most functional, cosmetic and comfortable care.
Outside of the office, Shahriar spends much of his time playing basketball and enjoying the outdoors. Always a student, he also enjoys reading, and it is common to find him engaged in such conversations in the clinic whether it be about history or the news of the day. He is always actively involved in his community and has a particular interest in youth education.
Dr. Marcio Barros
Dr. Marcio Barros was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the middle child of three siblings. His passion for dentistry began at an early age, when he spent time learning about the profession at his mother’s dental practice. It was there that he began to learn the traits of compassion, dedication and self discipline , which would aid him in his own efforts to become a dentist.
Upon graduation from the University of Sao Paulo in 1991 Dr. Barros completed a three year orthodontic program. He worked as an orthodontist in Brazil until 2006 when he decided , with his wife Gulliana, to move the family to Canada.
After getting settled in Canada, Dr. Barros returned to the university life to become acquainted with the diversity of general practice once again. In the spring of 2013 he graduated from the International Dental Degree Completion Program at U.B.C. with a doctorate in dental medicine. He is grateful for the additional training he received at UBC’s state of the art clinic and will practice general dentistry with an interest in orthodontics.
While studying at UBC , Dr. Barros volunteered at the BC Cancer Agency, where he offered support and companionship to patients receiving chemotherapy.
Dr. Ana Santoro
Dr. Ana Santoro was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She graduated in 2005 from University of Sao Paulo and completed a two year program in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. She worked at a Dental Imaging Clinic until she decided to enlist in the military and worked as a dentist for the Brazilian Air Force for four years. She then moved to Canada with her husband, Ronaldo, in 2015.
After receiving her permanent residency to stay in Canada, Ana challenged the exams through the National Dental Examination Board of Canada, one of the hardest processes for regulated professions in Canada. Ana is dedicated to upgrade her knowledge and skills through continuing education to deliver a high-quality dental care and a positive experience to her patients. She is thrilled to have joined Thompson Valley Dental where she is able to contribute to Kamloops’s community where she felt warmly welcomed since she left her home country.
Away from work, Ana loves to spend time with family and friends and take her daughters, Bianca and Bruna who were born in Kamloops, to playgrounds, parks, and lakes.
